Asphalt shingle

ORGANIZED. SCALABLE. TRUSTED BY PROFESSIONALS.

Replacing the roof on a large apartment complex, condo community, or church is a major undertaking.

These projects require precision, planning, and clear communication with many different stakeholders — from property managers and HOA boards to dozens (or hundreds) of residents.

At Compass Exteriors, we specialize in large-scale asphalt shingle roofing projects and bring the organization and craftsmanship needed to get the job done right, on time, and with minimal disruption.

OUR ASPHALT SHINGLE INSTALLATION PROCESS

1

FREE CONSULTATION & COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTION

Our team walks all roof sections, documenting conditions with photos and narrated videos. Findings are shared with property managers, HOA boards, or church committees so decisions are transparent and informed.

2

PROPOSAL & STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION

Detailed scope of work prepared, including materials, timelines, and warranties. We attend HOA board meetings, property management reviews, or church building committee sessions to explain the process and answer questions.

3

RESIDENT & OCCUPANT COMMUNICATION

For apartments/condos: notices delivered to residents, outlining timelines, parking instructions, and safety considerations. For churches: we work with leadership to coordinate around services, events, and community activities to minimize disruption.

4

PROPERTY PROTECTION & STAGING

Plywood tenting safeguards landscaping, vehicles, HVAC units, and equipment. Parking and staging areas are planned with management to maintain access for residents and visitors. Pools, play areas, and walkways are fully covered or cordoned off.

5

TEAR-OFF & DECKING INSPECTION

Old shingles are removed efficiently in sections to keep the project moving. Roof decking is inspected for rot or damage and repaired as needed before new materials are installed. Decking is always re-nailed for added stability and structure.

6

UNDERLAYMENT & ICE/WATER SHIELD

Synthetic underlayment installed across the field. Ice and water barrier applied at all eaves, valleys, penetrations, and other vulnerable areas.

7

ASPHALT SHINGLE INSTALLATION

Premium Architectural Asphalt Shingles installed using six-nail fastening patterns for wind resistance. Attention to proper ventilation and flashing ensures long-term performance. Special detailing for unique church features like steep slopes, towers, cross structures, and stained glass protection.

8

FLASHING & ACCESSORY INSTALLATION

Chimneys, sidewalls, and penetrations are flashed with precision. Ridge vents, hip/ridge caps, and drip edges installed for durability and airflow.

9

DAILY CLEAN-UP & PROGRESS REPORTING

Crews clean staging areas daily, with magnet sweeps to ensure nails and debris don’t endanger residents, parishioners, or visitors. Property managers and HOAs receive daily progress updates with photos and completion percentages.

10

FINAL WALKTHROUGH & WARRANTY REGISTRATION

Final inspection conducted with management, board members, or church representatives. 50-year manufacturer warranties and Compass Exteriors’ 10-year workmanship warranty registered and documented.
